Young athletes in Trinidad and Tobago are learning that financial success is more than just luck. At a recent financial literacy workshop hosted by the University of the West Indies’ UTC team, participants explored goal-setting and disciplined money management.

Through an interactive simulation called “The Game of Life,” players navigated real-world financial scenarios, seeing firsthand how smart saving and investment decisions can provide a safety net for unexpected challenges.

Marketing Manager Shoba Ganess says the initiative empowers athletes to take ownership of their financial journeys.

“We want our young people to stay curious and feel empowered to take ownership of their financial   journey. By renewing this partnership for a second year, we are telling these athletes that we believe in their potential far beyond the pitch,” she said.

Coach Phillip Fraser highlights the importance of preparing young sportspeople for life beyond the pitch.

“Our responsibility is to support these young men and women in every aspect of their lives, and that means preparing them for the reality of life beyond sport,” Fraser said.

“Seeing the players engaged with the UTC team shows they understand the value of this investment.”
