The US is investing US$500 million dollars into its new embassy in Port of Spain.
A statement from the US Embassy Trinidad and Tobago stated that the sum was designated to plan design and build the new Embassy.
It added that the construction of the new Embassy would provide “scores of jobs,” while the project will showcase state-of-the-art and eco-friendly designs.
The new Embassy is being constructed on the property previously occupied by the Trinidad Country Club on Long Circular Road, Maraval.
The US government purchased the 11-acre property for a reported US$400 million.
The new US Embassy is expected to be completed in 2029.
