The Transport Ministry is warning that persons using unregistered electric scooters and motorcycles, or riding without the required driving permit, may face enforcement action.
These mechanically propelled vehicles are classified as motor vehicles under the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Act, which regulates their use on the nation’s roads.
However, the Ministry says many riders are operating these vehicles in violation of the law, raising both safety and legal concerns.
The Ministry says the Licensing Authority may refuse registration on safety grounds.
