A high-level ministerial delegation from the United Arab Emirates is set to visit Trinidad and Tobago from 23-26 January.

Speaking at a media conference on Tuesday afternoon, Foreign Affairs Minister Sean Sobers said the visit builds on the Prime Minister’s September 2025 engagements at the UN General Assembly.

Mrs Persad-Bissessar held bilateral meetings in New York with global leaders, including the UAE, the United States, and the Un Secretary General—in an effort to strengthen international relations.

Mr Sobers said discussions will focus on oil and gas production, agriculture and fisheries, land utilisation for investment, port and logistics development, desalination projects, and improving ease of doing business in Trinidad and Tobago.

The Foreign Affairs Minister said the UAE delegation aims to support Trinidad and Tobago in its role as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, alongside broader economic and developmental collaborations.

Mr Sobers said the delegation is set to visit Tobago where they will be hosted by the Tobago House of Assembly.

They will explore co-investment opportunities and development projects.

Mr Sobers reminded that the UAE is a top 10 global oil and gas producer with major sovereign wealth funds managing over US1.5 trillion in assets.

He said strengthening ties with the UAE will bring foreign direct investment and economic benefits to Trinidad and Tobago.
