Two men are in police custody after officers in Siparia seized a firearm and ammunition during an early-morning anti-crime operation today.
Police say around 4:15 a.m., officers from the Siparia CID responded to reports of loud explosions relayed by the Police Command Center.
Acting on intelligence, PCs Austin and Rampersad intercepted a white Nissan Tiida in which a 26-year-old driver and a 29-year-old passenger were detained.
A search of the vehicle uncovered a HELLCAT Springfield Armory pistol, a 9mm magazine, and eight rounds of ammunition.
Both suspects were arrested for possession of a firearm and ammunition and taken to the Siparia Police Station as investigations continue.
