The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service says it has adopted a heightened security posture in response to the evolving situation in Venezuela.

In a statement, the TTPS advised that it has been closely monitoring recent regional developments and has already implemented a series of precautionary operational measures to ensure the continued safety and security of the nation.

The police service says it is its responsibility to anticipate risks, maintain public confidence, and ensure Trinidad and Tobago remains safe and secure during periods of uncertainty. As a result, a number of strategic operations have been activated.

The TTPS stressed that these actions are purely precautionary and form part of its ongoing commitment to national security. The public is being assured there is no cause for alarm, as the measures are intended to ensure readiness, stability, and continuity of service should circumstances change.

Citizens are being encouraged to remain calm, stay informed through official channels, and report any suspicious activity to the police. The TTPS noted that public vigilance and responsible information sharing are key elements of national resilience.

Commissioner of Police Allister Guevarro said the situation will remain under constant review, with updates provided as necessary, adding that, “when your neighbour’s house is on fire, the prudent thing is to wet yours.”
