Three men were arrested and two firearms and ammunition seized during “Operation Festive Shield” operations in the districts of San Juan and Maracas Bay.
In San Juan, two men were detained and a Smith and Wesson 9mm pistol and ammunition was seized during targeted searches based on intelligence received.
In Maracas Bay, 34-year-old Maracas man was arrested and a Beretta 9mm pistol and ammunition was recovered by police officers.
Both operations were spearheaded by W/Snr Supt Guy-Alleyne and Supt Birch, coordinated by ASP Callender, and supported by officers of the NED Gang & Intelligence Unit, the San Juan CID, and units of the Inter-Agency Task Force.
Meanwhile, police issued 10 fixed penalty notices to drivers and passengers on Monday for failing to wear seatbelts.
Officers of the Maloney Police Station issued the citations during a roving traffic operation within the district.
The TTPS has reminded motorists that failing to wear a seatbelt while a vehicle is in motion is an offence, punishable with a $1000 fine.
Seatbelts are critical for the safety of both drivers and passengers in the event of an accident.
The operation was spearheaded by ACP Singh, Snr Supt Maynard-Wilson, Supt McKenzie, ASP Morales, ASP Ablacksingh, and ASP Pierre, and was coordinated by Cpl Forgenie.
