Tropical Storm Erin has formed in the eastern Atlantic and is expected to strengthen into the first hurricane of the season.

According to the National Hurricane Centre, it formed just west of the Cabo Verde Islands and has currently sustained winds of 45 mph, gradually strengthening during the week.

The NHC said no coastal watches or warnings are in effect at this time.

It seems unlikely at this point that it will have a direct impact on the Caribbean and eastern US however, it could still bring indirect impacts like rain and rip currents.
