A 75-year-old Trinidadian man has been charged with the murder of 34-year-old Salisha Ali, a mother of three, whose dismembered remains were discovered near John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York.
Ali, who had traveled to the U.S. seeking better opportunities, was last seen by her family during a video call in July 2025.
Investigators believe the suspect, Rupchand Simboo, killed Ali last year, then dismembered her body and disposed of the parts in separate locations, including Indewild Park and Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge.
Police identified her through distinctive tattoos and confirmed her identity via DNA testing.
Simbhoo, who had been under investigation, was taken into custody on Wednesday and charged with murder, tampering with evidence, and obstructing governmental administration.
Authorities continue to probe the case. Ali’s relatives in Trinidad, who reported her missing after failing to reach her, expressed shock and grief, noting she had traveled to the U.S. to reunite with the suspect.
