Windward Islands Airways International (WINAIR) is preparing to launch air service St. Maarten and Trinidad and Tobago.

Flights will take place twice weekly between the Princess Juliana International Airport and Piarco International Airport.

The development was announced after a meeting between Senator Eli Zakour and Hans van de Velde, CEO of WINAIR, and Hayden Newton, General Manager of the Airports Authority of Trinidad and Tobago.

Minister Zakour welcomed WINAIR’s entry into Trinidad and Tobago and noted the new service will enhance regional connectivity, while supporting tourism, trade, and cultural exchange.

He described the new route and a positive development for business and leisure.

Minister Zakour reaffirmed government’s commitment to expanding air transport options and strengthening regional integration.

He said the Ministry is looking forward to working closely with WINAIR to ensure a successful launch and sustainable operations of the service.

The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation says the development represents “a significant step forward in regional air connectivity, strengthening direct links between Trinidad and Tobago and one of the Caribbean’s major aviation hubs.”

WINAIR is a regional airline based in St. Maarten that has been in operation since 1961.
