Police Commissioner Allister Guevarro says there has been a noticeable decline in murders across the country for 2025 compared to 2020 and 2022-2024.

He said that 231 murders have been recorded for the year thus far, a 14.8% reduction when compared to 2020 when there were 271 homicides for the comparable period.

The Commissioner attributed the decline to the evolution of the TTPS, which has increased its use of intelligence-led policing, expanded community patrols and targeted interventions in high-risk zones.

He made the comments yesterday during a meeting hosted by the Chaguanas Chamber of Commerce.
