The Telecommunications Authority of Trinidad and Tobago says local cable providers must now secure full intellectual property rights to continue carrying major U.S. networks — ABC, NBC, CBS and FOX.
TATT says the move is necessary to protect national trade agreements and prevent violations of U.S. copyright law, after years of negotiations with American agencies failed to secure authorisation for the channels.
Cable providers have one year to comply, with one station regularised every four months starting December 30th, 2025. Providers may also remove the channels earlier if they choose.
TATT warns that broadcasting without proper rights breaches concession agreements and could trigger enforcement action under the Telecommunications Act.
