The Telecommunications Authority of Trinidad and Tobago says it is moving to clamp down on long-standing breaches of intellectual property rules affecting local cable broadcasts.

TATT’s Executive Officer for Legal, Karel Douglas, says several cable providers have been carrying US free-to-air television channels — including CNN, CBS and ABC — without securing the required broadcast rights.

Douglas told TTT News that international partners are now insisting the matter be addressed, prompting the Authority to take enforcement action.
