San Fernando Hill has been re-opened for rentals, following the installation of fencing at the venue.

The announcement that the prohibition notice, which was imposed following the death of a patron at a fete, was lifted was made in a Facebook post yesterday.

Speaking with 103.1FM News today, San Fernando Mayor Robert Parris confirmed that works on the Hill have been completed and was happy for the re-opening.

While the Visitor’s Centre Building remains unavailable for rental, all other facilities are now open, and event bookings require application submissions at least two months in advance.

The OSHA ban on events was imposed in January 2024 following the death of schoolteacher Renee Mitchell, who fell while attending a Carnival fete on the Hill.

The committee was advised that the ban would remain in effect until proper fencing was installed.
