Murder accused and suspected gang leader Rajaee Ali is one of 15 persons who were recently served prevention detention orders.
The order, which was executed on August 19th, effectively alters his legal status and removes him from the usual protections of the prison rules.
Authorities cited his role in allegedly trafficking contraband and running gang operations even while imprisoned at military bases in Chaguaramas.
Ali has challenged his detention, claiming inhumane treatment and denial of basic rights.
The order was signed by Homeland Security Minister Roger Alexander on August 18th and printed as a legal notice in the Gazette on August 25th.
