PNM stalwart Ferdie Ferreira has died.

The veteran political figure passed away at 6:20 this morning at the age of 93, following complications from a stroke. 

He had been hospitalised for the past three weeks.

Ferreira, widely known for his sharp political commentary and decades of service to national life, was regarded as a respected voice in both government and media circles.

PNM MP Stuart Young led tributes today, calling him “a PNM giant and a patriot,” and “a fountain of knowledge and history.” 

Young thanked Ferreira for his lifelong contribution to the party and the country, and extended condolences to his family and friends.

Meanwhile, Opposition Leader Pennelope Beckles is paying tribute to Ferdinand “Ferdie” Ferreira, calling him a man of unwavering principle, patriotism and courage.

She says his passing is a profound loss to the PNM and the nation, noting his sharp counsel and deep love for country.

Beckles thanked him for a lifetime of service and says he now rests in God’s eternal peace.
