Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has departed for Miami, Florida where she is due to attend the Shield of the Americas Summit.
She is set to engage in high-level discussions with President Donald Trump and other senior US officials on matters of interest.
Minister of the Office of the Prime Minister Nicholas Morris said yesterday that the delegation will also hold several bilateral meetings during the trip to Doral.
“The Prime Minister, through the Minister of Foreign Affairs, has requested bilateral discussions with some of our colleagues, namely the President of Argentina, the President of Panama, the President of El Salvador, and the President of the Dominican Republic,” he said.
“So it is a very big opportunity for Trinidad and Tobago to continue our fight on the regional, on the international stage, to bring opportunity back to the people of Trinidad and Tobago.”
Minister Jearlean John will serve as Acting Prime Minister.
