Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has congratulated St Lucia’s Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre on his party’s victory in the country’s General Election.
Reuters reported that official general election results show the governing Labour Party winning atleast 9 out of the 17 seats.
Mr Pierre was challenged by the conservative opposition leader, Allen Chastanet, who preceded Pierre as Prime Minister of the island of 180,000 people.
Mrs Persad-Bissessar praised the Labour Party for retaining its legislative majority, saying “the people of St Lucia have spoken at the polls.”
She extended best wishes to Prime Minister Pierre and his government as they continue their governance, adding a blessing for the people of StLucia and their future.
