Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar says children across Trinidad and Tobago will no longer be denied lifesaving care with the opening of the Couva Children’s Hospital.
The Couva hospital was reopened on Sunday, with the Prime Minister brought on stage with children who had received medical treatment through the Children’s Life Fund
In a social media post on X, the Prime Minister said here smiles reminded her of why the fund was created to help children whose families cannot afford treatment.
Mrs Persad Bissessar said that government has invested $78 million to restore the hospital, with surgeries at the institution resumed in November.
To date, the Prime Minister said that 86 surgeries have been performed at the hospital.
