The Prime Minister has ordered a full and urgent investigation into the death of 6-year-old Jasher Francois.
The little boy died yesterday at the San Fernando Teaching Hospital.
According to the latest reports, an autopsy performed today listed the cause of death as aspiration pneumonitis, likely triggered by viral pneumonia.
However, Jasher’s parents, Aaron and Amy Francois, have allegedly rejected the findings, saying that he was alert, responsive, and showed no signs of serious illness, despite being kept on oxygen and a nebuliser.
They claim their son’s sudden deterioration followed the intravenous administration of magnesium sulphate, a medication he was given just minutes before he went into distress and died.
