Palestine’s President Mahmoud Abbas has declared that Hamas will play no role in governing Gaza after the war.
He also condemned the group’s 2023 attack on Israel and called for the group to disarm, while speaking via video to the UN General Assembly earlier today.
President Abbas accused Israel of waging a campaign of “genocide, destruction, and displacement” in Gaza but reaffirmed his commitment to a two-state solution.
He added “There can be no justice if Palestine is not freed, ” reiterating that the Palestinian Authority is “ready to bear full responsibility for governance and security” in Gaza.
