President General of the Oilfields Workers’ Trade Union, Ancel Roget, has filed a defamation lawsuit against former Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley.
The legal action stems from a Facebook post made by Dr Rowley in August 2022, which Roget says falsely linked him to criminal activity and irresponsible leadership during industrial unrest.
Roget argues the comments damaged his reputation and were especially harmful given Dr Rowley’s position as prime minister at the time.
According to the union, no retraction was issued despite a formal request, prompting the lawsuit seeking an apology and damages.
