The Leader of the Opposition, Penelope Beckles-Robinson, has extended warm greetings to the Hindu community across Trinidad and Tobago on the occasion of Chaitra Navratri.
In her message, Beckles-Robinson highlighted the festival’s spiritual significance, marking the Hindu New Year and the arrival of spring, a time for renewal, reflection, and devotion to Goddess Durga.
She called on citizens to embrace values of strength, compassion, and unity, noting that Navratri offers an opportunity for both personal and national renewal.
“Beyond its religious significance, Navratri invites deeper introspection. It calls upon us to examine our conduct, renew our commitments to family and community, and strive toward higher standards of integrity and purpose. It is a time to cast aside negativity, embrace hope, and recommit ourselves to the principles of justice, kindness, and unity,” the Opposition Leader stated.
“In a broader national context, these values resonate profoundly. As a people, we are reminded of the importance of moral clarity, social harmony, and collective responsibility in shaping a just and inclusive society. The observance of Navratri reinforces the enduring truth that strength—both individual and national—is rooted in discipline, faith, and compassion,” Mrs Beckles-Robinson added.
Beckles-Robinson wished all devotees peace, spiritual growth, and blessings during the nine sacred nights of observance.
