Opposition Leader Pennelope Beckles-Robinson is calling for steelpan classes in all schools across the country.
In her message on the second anniversary of World Steelpan Day, she said the initiative would preserve cultural heritage and inspire a new generation of pannists, innovators, and cultural ambassadors.
Mrs Beckles-Robinson emphasized that steelpan can also support students who struggled with traditional academics, adding that it can provide support to help navigate through unique educational journeys.
The long-running “Pan in Schools” program, launched in the 1980s, already promotes cultural pride and musical education throughout Trinidad and Tobago.
