One man is dead following a police-involved shooting in Mayaro early Monday morning.
Police say officers of the Mayaro CID responded to reports of a man armed with a gun in the Guayaguayare area around 2 a.m.
On arrival, the suspect—identified as Ainsley Glenn Gonzales—allegedly pointed a firearm at officers.
When he refused to drop the weapon, police opened fire in keeping with the Use of Force Policy.
Gonzales was taken to the Mayaro Health Facility, where he later died.
A sawed-off shotgun was recovered at the scene.
Meanwhile, Northern Division Task Force officers seized over a kilogram of cannabis during a La Horquetta raid on Sunday night.
