The Sultanate of Oman has strongly condemned Iran’s recent attacks on energy infrastructure across Qatar, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia, calling for strict adherence to international law and a clear avoidance of targeting civilian or industrial sites.

The warning comes in the wake of Wednesday’s strike on Qatar’s Ras Laffan complex, which triggered a blaze at Shell’s natural gas facility there.

The company confirmed the fire was swiftly extinguished, reported no casualties, and described the site as now being in a “safe state,” according to Reuters.

When fully operational, the Ras Laffan facility can process 1.6 billion cubic feet of gas per day, converting it into 140,000 barrels per day of gas-to-liquids products.

Meanwhile, the UAE temporarily shut down its Habshan and Bab gas facilities, and Saudi authorities say they successfully foiled attacks in both the eastern province and Riyadh.

Oman’s statement underscores growing regional tensions and the urgent need to safeguard vital energy infrastructure in the Gulf.
