The US Embassy and Health Ministry have launched a new e-learning health portal to strengthen Trinidad and Tobago’s health system, particularly to improve HIV testing and care.
The Trinidad and Tobago E-Learning Health Portal provides continuous training and health information for Ministry staff and improves the use of the District Health Information System for real-time tracking of HIV testing and faster patient care.
The portal also supports disease surveillance and data-driven public health decisions developed with the Ministry’s HIV/AIDS Coordinating Unit.
It was done with support from the US Government through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS as part of US health initiatives in the Caribbean.
At the launch event March 13th, the US Embassy also donated 28 tablets to help staff securely collect HIV testing data.
