NCIC President and Independent Senator Deoroop Teemal has passed away.
He was 68.
103.1FM News understands he died early this morning.
A statement from the Teemal family reads, “He held many roles — Independent Senator, President of the NCIC, and Sanghachalak of the Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh — but above all, he was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished brother, beloved grandfather and friend to many.”
Another statement from NCIC 1st Vice President Surujdeo Mangaroo describes Senator Teemal as “a dedicated leader and a passionate advocate for cultural preservation and community development.”
He adds that further details regarding funeral arrangements and opportunities to pay tribute will be shared in due course.
Senator Teemal was first appointed to the Independent bench in November 2018.
He was elected NCIC President in April 2023, replacing the late Dr Deokienanan Sharma.
By profession, Senator Teemal was a Civil & Structural Engineer and Project Manager with 37 years experience.
