NATUC is rejecting a call from former Finance Minister Brian Manning for the PSA President to resign if public servants do not receive a 10% wage increase by Christmas.

In a statement, NATUC’s General Secretary, Michael Annisette, said comment, made was “misplaced, inappropriate, and disrespectful to the trade union movement”.

He also accused Mr Manning of attempting to shift blame onto union representatives, insisting instead that it was the former PNM-led administration that delayed negotiations for nearly ten years.

Additionally, Mr Annisette rejected claims that meeting long-overdue wage obligations threatens national stability, saying the payments are owed to workers who kept the country running.
