Tributes continued to pour in for former Naparima College principal Dr Allan McKenzie, who died on Tuesday at the age of 92.

The Office of the President expressed their profound gratitude for his enduring service to the nation and joined the national community in mourning his loss.

“Dr McKenzie devoted his life to the advancement of education and the shaping of young minds. As the long-serving principal of Naparima Boys’ College, he moulded generations of young men who continue to serve Trinidad and Tobago with distinction and pride,” a statement from the Office of the President stated.

President Christine Kangaloo spent time with Dr McKenzie at the HC McDonald Home for the Aged in December 2025.

Meanwhile, Education Minister Dr Michael Dowlath said he was privileged to have been shaped by Dr McKenzie’s leadership, discipline and unwavering commitment to excellence.

“His insistence on high standards, integrity, and service left an indelible mark on generations of students, myself included,” Dr Dowlath stated.

“Dr. Mc Kenzie was more than an administrator; he was an educator in the truest sense — a mentor, a disciplinarian with compassion, and a builder of character. His influence extended far beyond the classroom and the school compound, contributing significantly to the national educational landscape,” he added.

The Naparima College Association of Past Students stated in a media release that Dr McKenzie left an indelible mark on generations of students and the legacy of the College itself.

“Beyond titles and offices, he was a teacher in the truest sense of the word. He taught us how to carry ourselves. He taught us that character is revealed not in applause, but in consistency. He taught us that education is not merely the accumulation of knowledge, but the cultivation of conscience,” the Association stated.

Funeral details are to be announced.
