The Ministry of Agriculture is hoping to boost the local coconut industry through the introduction of the Brazilian Green Dwarf coconut seedlings to farmers.
Over 200 farmers from communities across Trinidad and Tobago received seedlings earlier today from the Ministry at the Central Experiment Station in Centeno.
The Brazilian Green Dwarf variety is a popular high-yielding coconut known for producing sweet, green nuts that are good for drinking water.
The Agriculture Ministry hopes this will aid their ongoing efforts to strengthen and revitalize the local coconut industry.
