Minister of Land and Legal Affairs, Saddam Hosein, says the Government will treat with the use of fireworks, however he could not commit to any policy direction at this time.
Speaking with the media before heading into Parliament today, Mr Hosein gave insight into the issue.
Minister Hosein said the Government is working on legislation to address the issue, with a focus on balancing safety, public celebration, and fiscal responsibility.
He also defended the government’s decision to cancel the official fireworks display for Independence Day, noting that the cost of previous fireworks displays, over half a million dollars, was a key factor in the decision.
