A major contraband stash was uncovered in the ceiling vents of the Maximum Security Prison in Arouca last night.
A TTPS release said officers made the bust, between 5:30 and 9PM, after crawling through several metres of cramped ceiling vents to uncover hidden items.
Officers recovered 62 cell phones, over 200 packs of cigarettes, marijuana, cocaine, weapons, digital scales, cash, tools, solar panel charger and other prohibited items.
The operation, headed by Police Commissioner Allister Guevarro Guevarro and Acting Prisons Commissioner Hayden Forde, was as part of an ongoing crackdown on criminal activity inside the nation’s prisons.
