La Niña conditions are currently present and are expected to persist until at least until January 2026.

The T&T Met Service has advised that there is a moderate chance of returning to neutral conditions by March next year.

Historically, the La Niña phases tend to bring normal to above-normal rainfall to our islands, due to cooler-than-normal Pacific Ocean temperatures, which strengthen the trade winds and enhance rain-bearing weather systems over the Caribbean.

For T&T, this often translates into wetter conditions, more frequent heavy showers, and increased cloudiness through the coming months.

The Met Service is reminding the public to stay alert for possible flooding and landslide advisory as the pattern continues.
