Opposition MP Colm Imbert sought to clarify his side of an incident story that occurred in Parliament on Friday.

During the incident, which was broadcasted on Parliament’s channels, the Prime Minister was heard saying “Because I will cuff you down,”, in response to comment from Mr Imbert.

During a PNM Media conference this morning, he claimed he had no interaction at all with the Prime Minister.

Mr Imbert rejected all criticism aimed at his behaviour during the incident, which occurred during the division of votes on the Virtual Assets Bill on Friday.

According to a Newsday report, leader of Government Business Barry Padarath claimed Mr Imbert provoked Mrs Persad-Bissessar with insults, at which point she defended herself.

He added that UNC MPs will no longer stay silent when targeted in Parliament and that the UNC makes no apology for pushing back against what he calls vile attempts to provoke their leader.
