Cricket’s governing body has rejected suggestions of unequal treatment.
This, after the West Indies and South Africa squads were stranded in India for more than a week following their exit from the T20 World Cup, while England flew out in less than two days.
The ICC has been accused of preferential treatment amid the travel chaos resulting from airspace closures and rerouted flights due to the war in the Middle East.
The body says it “rejects any suggestion that these decisions have been driven by anything other than safety, feasibility and welfare”.
The West Indies eventually left in batches on commercial flights after the CWI decided to forgo the ICC-organized charter.
Coach Daren Sammy was among those expressing frustration with the situation, while CWI said the uncertainty was “increasingly distressing”.
