Parliament revealed a major clean-up of state programmes.

Minister Khadijah Ameen said 928 Unemployment Relief Programme workers were terminated for failing to report or living abroad, with some on the payroll despite not working.

Minister Barry Padarath confirmed 336 CEPEP contractors were also removed for “ghost gangs” and payroll fraud.

Both ministers insist the terminations restore accountability and transparency in public employment.
