The Health Ministry is advising of a recall for more than 367,812 pounds of fully cooked Oscar Mayer Turkey Bacon Original.

The items, produced between April 24th and June 11th, may have been contaminated with a type of Listeria, which can cause an invasive infection to spread beyond the gastrointestinal tract.

According to a release from the Ministry, the recall was issued by the manufacturer Krafy Heinz Compnay and has been classified as a Class I recall by the US Food Safety and Inspection Service.

This classification indicates that consumption may “cause serious, adverse health consequences or death”, and that persons with weakened immune systems and older adults are subject to more fatal infections.

Symptoms of the contamination include fever, headaches, stiff neck, loss of balance and convulsions sometimes preceded by diarrhea or other gastrointestinal symptoms.

The product is approved for sale in Trinidad and Tobago, therefore, out of an abundance of caution, the Ministry advises persons who may be in possession of the products with the following codes are urged to immediately discontinue use and return product to the place of purchase, where possible.

The following products are subject to recall:
