Former Police Commissioner Gary Griffith is criticizing Police Commissioner Allister Guevarro, describing his recent statements as “reckless and irresponsible.”
Griffith says if the circulating audio is authentic and not AI-generated, the Commissioner should be removed from office.
He also took aim at the current leadership of the TTPS, claiming there has been no meaningful operational progress over the past year and that public trust has declined.
“He needs to check when I was Commissioner of Police, public trust and confidence in the police was almost 60%. Now it is less than 10% under him,” Mr Griffith said.
“So, rather than expect that this Commissioner of Police would be spending time criticizing people and bad-talking people, it is hoped he can embrace change, embrace technology because, again, I hope this Police Commissioner succeeds.”
Guevarro, however, maintains he is apolitical and has no interest in political office, while accusing Griffith of mismanaging the service during his tenure.
