Minister of Finance Dave Tancoo has met with OPEC Fund President Dr Abdulhamid Alkhalifa to explore support for Small Island Developing States.
In a post via X, the OPEC Fund said discussions focused on cooperation through the Island Resilience Facility.
The platform is designed to go beyond traditional financing by supporting climate adaptation and sustainable development in island nations.
The Fund said scaling up support for SIDS starts with focused action, as partnerships are expanded to deliver greater impact for vulnerable island communities.
Minister Tancoo is currently in Panama to participate in this year’s International Economic Forum organized by CAF, the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean.
