Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar is facing criticism from Fishermen and Friends of the Sea, for supporting recent military strikes by the US on Iran.
In a recent release, the group said her recent comments do not reflect the views of most citizens, adding that backing such actions risks escalating global conflict.
FFOS is calling on the Government to reaffirm commitment to the United Nations Charter, uphold international law, support independent investigations into alleged nuclear violations, pursue diplomacy, and reject pre emptive military strikes.
It warned that “such policies could threaten this country’s sovereignty and regional peace.”
