Former Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley says that it was under his administration that the foundation for the Dragon Gas Project was established, dismissing accusations of waste or mismanagement.
During a media briefing this morning, he also charted his work since 2016, highlighting the efforts he and former Energy Minister Stuart Young made to navigate complex international relations and secure such licenses.
This comes after yesterday’s announcement by Attorney General John Jeremie that the Government received a six-month OFAC licence from the US to begin talks with Venezuela.
Dr. Rowley criticized the current government’s handling and silence surrounding the recent issuance of an OFAC license, expressing concerns over the lack of transparency regarding the acquisition of the license.
He questioned Attorney General John Jeremie’s refusal to disclose key terms and benchmarks of the new deal, calling for full accountability and clarity on the government’s negotiations.
