A Diego Martin man is facing serious charges after police investigated threats made online against Senator the Honourable Dr. Amery Browne.
Police say the 48-year-old suspect was hit with three counts of Threats to Kill and four counts of Misuse of an Electronic Device, after investigators traced threatening comments posted to the Senator’s personal Facebook page.
The messages, discovered by Dr. Browne on November 19th, allegedly threatened his life and the lives of his children.
Officers say the comments were made in response to public posts earlier in the month, and the victim confirmed he did not know the individual.
The suspect later surrendered voluntarily at the West End Police Station, where he was charged by Woman Corporal Cobb of the CID.
The investigation was led by Senior Superintendent Thom, Superintendent Baird and ASP Mongroo, with supervisory support from Inspector Durga and Sergeants Bhagwandeen and Masleir.
