The Customs and Excise Division has intercepted a shipment of marijuana at a bonded area in Port of Spain.

Officers from the Preventive Branch discovered four packages containing cannabis concealed within cargo during a routine inspection. The drugs have an estimated street value of over 424 thousand dollars.

One man was arrested and later granted bail of 200 thousand dollars.

Officials say the seizure highlights intensified efforts to combat drug trafficking, with over 13 million dollars in narcotics seized so far this year.
