The Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) has confirmed that the tournament will return to Jamaica in 2026, marking a long-awaited homecoming for CPL cricket on the island.

The 2026 season will feature the return of a Jamaica-based franchise, with four matches scheduled to be played at the iconic Sabina Park, one of the most historic and celebrated cricket venues in the world.

The announcement follows collaborative discussions with the Government of Jamaica, including the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport and the Ministry of Tourism. As a result, CPL matches will be staged in Jamaica for the first time since 2019.

Chief Executive Officer of the CPL Pete Russell welcomed the agreement, describing the return as a major moment for the tournament.

He said Jamaica’s rich cricketing heritage and unmatched energy make it one of the most special destinations in the region, adding that fans have long called for the return of a Jamaican franchise and matches at Sabina Park.

The CPL’s return is expected to deliver a significant economic boost to Jamaica, benefiting tourism, hospitality, transportation, and small and medium-sized businesses. Thousands of visiting fans, players, officials, and international media are expected to travel to the island, driving increased hotel occupancy, local spending, and employment opportunities.

Beyond its economic impact, the tournament will also provide a powerful platform to showcase Jamaica on the global stage. The CPL’s 2025 combined digital and broadcast audience surpassed one billion viewers for the second consecutive season, offering major international exposure for Jamaica’s culture, vibrancy, and sporting heritage.

The reintroduction of a Jamaican franchise further reinforces the island’s deep cricketing legacy while creating new pathways for local talent, strengthening regional sporting ties, and enhancing Jamaica’s reputation as a premier host destination for world-class events.

Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport Olivia Grange welcomed the tournament’s return, noting that it supports economic growth, promotes Jamaican culture globally, and inspires young people through sport.

Minister of Tourism Edmund Bartlett said the return of CPL cricket to Kingston represents more than world-class sporting action, signalling renewed momentum for the country’s urban tourism strategy and the promotion of vibrant city experiences.

President of Cricket West Indies, Kishore Shallow, also welcomed the announcement, describing the return of CPL cricket to Sabina Park as an important moment not only for the tournament but for Caribbean cricket as a whole.

The Government of Jamaica says it looks forward to welcoming the CPL family back in 2026 for a celebration of cricket, culture, and community.
