The Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) has officially entered a new stratosphere of global popularity. Organizers announced today that the 2025 tournament achieved a record-breaking combined viewership of 1.17 billion, marking the highest audience figure in the league’s history.

The milestone represents a 3.5% increase over the previous year’s 1.13 billion, cementing the CPL’s status as a dominant force in the international T20 cricket landscape.

A primary driver behind this year’s surge was a 19% increase in linear (traditional TV) viewership.

This growth was largely fueled by a strategic expansion in the Indian market.

For the first time, Star India provided highlights programming in Hindi alongside English, opening the “Biggest Party in Sport” to hundreds of millions of new viewers.

To keep up with this demand, broadcasters significantly increased their output.

Total broadcast hours climbed by 22.7%, jumping from 7,779 hours in 2024 to an impressive 9,552 hours in 2025.

The CPL also proved its mettle as a “digital-first” property.

Social media engagement reached new heights, with the number of posts related to the men’s tournament rising by 19%.

The digital conversation grew from 71,000 posts in 2024 to over 84,000 this past season, reflecting a younger, more hyper-connected fan base.

Pete Russell, CEO of the Republic Bank CPL, noted that the league has become a vital cultural ambassador for the Caribbean.

“Reaching a combined viewership of more than one billion in 2024 was a major milestone,” Russell said. “To build on that success and grow the audience again in 2025 is just as significant. CPL remains a cultural touchpoint for the Caribbean and a powerful platform to showcase this incredible region.”

Looking ahead, Russell confirmed that the league is already working to “raise the bar even higher” for the 2026 season.

With skyrocketing interest in South Asia and a firm grip on digital trends, the CPL’s blend of world-class sport and Caribbean energy shows no signs of slowing down.
