Borough Day celebrations in Point Fortin are set to get a major boost with the launch of “Borough Fusion,” a mini-festival aimed at enhancing the annual event.

Speaking at the launch, Point Fortin MP Ernesto Kesar said the initiative is designed to create opportunities for residents, while preserving the spirit of Borough Day.

Borough Fusion will run from April 25th to May 1st and feature free nightly concerts, vending opportunities for locals, and cultural entertainment.

Mr Kesar stressed that the event will not replace existing festivities, but complement them and boost economic activity.

He added that the focus is on giving Point Fortin residents a space to earn, showcase talent, and celebrate community.

“This is not the launch of Borough Day. This is simply an event that is going to start after the major events have completed. So, this is Infusion to the already established program to enhance the celebration. This is in no way, trying to upstage or compromise the origin. We are in full support of the entire program of a Point Fortin celebration,” said Mr Kesar.

However, the new addition does not appear to have the full support on the Point Fortin Borough, as only a handful of Council members attended today’s event.

Recently, Mayor Clyde James raised concerns about limited funding and outstanding debt.
