Azruddin Mohamed has been declared Guyana’s Opposition Leader, following a vote among opposition MPs in the Parliament today.

He was elected during a meeting convened by Speaker Manzoor Nadir ahead of today’s Budget presentation.

The vote was supported by 16 MPs from his We Invest in Nationhood party and one Forward Guyana MP.

Mr Mohamed and his father, Nazar, have been indicted in the US and are facing extraditions over allegations including money laundering, fraud, bribery, and tax evasion.
