The American Chamber of Commerce of Trinidad and Tobago (AMCHAM T&T) has welcomed the introduction of electronic LINX payments by the Customs and Excise Division.

The new payment option, now available at Piarco and Customs House, allows customers to make secure, cashless transactions directly at Customs offices.

AMCHAM T&T described the initiative as a significant step toward reducing bureaucracy and improving the ease of doing business in Trinidad and Tobago.

Chief Executive Officer Nirad Tewarie said the move represents meaningful progress in the digitalization and modernization of Customs operations—enhancing efficiency, transparency, and trade facilitation.

Tewarie praised Comptroller Riad Juman, the Ministry of Finance, and the National Payments Company for making the initiative a reality.

He added that AMCHAM T&T looks forward to the system being rolled out at all ports and Customs facilities, with even more electronic payment options introduced in the future.
