Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Senator the Honourable Ravi Ratiram, has congratulated Guyana’s Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim on his election as Director General of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture for the 2026 to 2030 term.
Minister Ratiram described the appointment as a major milestone for Guyana and the wider Caribbean, praising Dr. Ibrahim’s strong record in agricultural innovation and sustainable development.
He says the new IICA head will play a key role in advancing food security, climate resilience, and rural growth across the Americas.
Dr. Ibrahim officially assumes office on January 15th, 2026. Minister Ratiram also thanked outgoing Director General Dr. Manuel Otero for his years of service in strengthening Caribbean agricultural capacity.
